Next, in the world of professional expensive studios editors usually can't choose software, they are always forced to use tools available in studio. The basement of those software was established without a lot of usability in mind just because most other similar software looked the same at that times. Avid goes back to 1989, Final Cut was released in 1998, Premiere as i know was designed by the same people as Final Cut in 2003, Smoke was released in 2004. Ok, maybe at least keep audio and video sections separated for those who prefer that "classic old school FCP/Premiere layout", but but just make one single unified scroll for all audio/video timeline for faster navigation.Īvid, Premiere, Smoke, same as classic Final Cut Studio are pretty ancient software. In Resolve i always feel like uncomfortable artificially restricted to those Audio and Video sections and always need to ask permission to cross between their border. If i need all tracks at bottom, i just put them at bottom. In Vegas i can put audio tracks at the bottom at top, or whatever i want. Next if i need quickly navigate to audio track, i need to move mouse to audio section, expand audio tracks section to larger size to fit more tracks, and navigate from there to desired audio track. I need to move mouse to video section, expand video tracks section to larger size to fit more tracks, and navigate from there to desired video track. In Resolve same action became something crazy complicated. In Vegas i just hold middle mouse button (or use shift+scroll wheel) and in one single moment navigate to any place on my timeline (vertically and horizontally, audio or video track).
They don't fit vertically to my monitor, so i need to scroll up and down during editing.
Let's imagine i have a complicated music video project with 10 audio and 10 video tracks.
